The Neighborhood House Experience / Fight Hunger in the Food Shelf

The Neighborhood House Food Shelf is the largest single site food shelf in Ramsey County, serving an average of 3,000 pounds of food daily to approximately 39,000 people annually; 50% of those served are children. Located on The Wellstone Center grounds, the staff and volunteers speak over ten languages and the food offered is ethnically diverse for the vast cultural populations who visit. Providing healthy foods to local families fulfills a basic need in stabilizing lives.

  1. Nourish the Neighborhood House
Families who use the food shelf at Neighborhood House are always in need of ways to cook the foods they receive. Donate dry beans and help assemble soup bags with multi-lingual instructions for cooking.

  2. Seasonal Bags
Each year, certain months prove more difficult than others for hungry families to survive. You can assemble seasonal bags for these local families to be distributed during times of great need. These bags can are also used during power outages and natural disasters.
